In Invest for Good, News by admin1 Comment

The 2015 Global 100 annual list of corporate leaders in sustainability was released today and there’s good news for America.

U.S. Companies have the largest presence in the list’s 11 year history.

A full twenty percent of the firms on the Global 100 this year are American.  U.S. companies Biogen (BIIB) and Allergen (AGN) took the top two spots. The next American company to appear on the list, Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) comes in at number 18 in the rankings.

The rankings seek to reward companies that create maximum value from scarce resources, among other objectives. Corporate Knights, the Toronto-based media and investment advisory company that maintains the rankings, puts eligible companies through a rigorous set of four screens. Companies are then scored on 12 Key Performance Indicators that include energy and carbon productivity.

The  process makes the Global 100 one of the most rigorous, fact-based rankings available of top corporate sustainability performers. The results may leave out some high performers as is there are only a certain number of spots reserved for each GICS sector.
